Javier Ángel Encinas Bardem comes from a renowned family of actors and is the son of director and actor Carlos Bardem and actress Pilar Bardem. 
He is married to actress Penélope Cruz, with whom he has two children. The couple have worked together in several films and are considered one of Spain's best-known acting couples.
One of Javier Bardem's breakthrough moments was his role in the film "Jamón, jamón" (1992), in which he played alongside Penélope Cruz. The film brought him his first attention and he won the Goya Award for Best Young Actor.
Bardem has appeared in a large number of films, both in Spanish and international productions. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented and respected actors of his generation.
Away from acting, he is also politically active and is committed to various social and environmental issues. Javier Bardem is an ambassador for the UN Development Program and has campaigned for the protection of the oceans and the rights of refugees.
