Michael Austin Cera participated in local theater productions at an early age and later completed various acting courses before turning his attention entirely to a career in film and television. He is best known for his reserved, witty manner and dry humor. He prefers quiet environments away from the spotlight and occasionally participates in radio and podcast projects. He keeps his private life largely private—his love of comics, video games, and music is public knowledge.

 

His international breakthrough came in 2007 with Superbad, in which he plays the shy, nerdy Seth alongside Jonah Hill. The film struck a chord with young audiences and established him as a charismatic comic talent.

 

Following the success of Superbad, Cera returned to playing endearing, neurotic roles, for example in Juno (2007) and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010).
