Michael Fassbender's parents were German and Irish citizens and he grew up in Ireland. His talent for acting became apparent at an early age and he attended the Drama Centre London acting school.

 

He is married to actress Alicia Vikander, whom he met on the set of the film "The Light Between Oceans" (2016). The couple are known for keeping their relationship out of the public eye and focusing on their work.

 

His breakthrough came in 2008 when he played the lead role of IRA member Bobby Sands in the film "Hunger". His haunting performance earned him worldwide recognition and established him as an up-and-coming star in Hollywood.

 

This was followed by other successful films such as "Inglourious Basterds", "X-Men: First Decision" and "Shame", for which he received an Oscar nomination. Fassbender showed his versatility as an actor in films such as "12 Years a Slave", "Steve Jobs" and "Assassin's Creed".

 

Away from the screen, Fassbender is also active as a producer and has worked successfully on various projects with his production company.
