Angela Bassett met her husband Courtney B. Vance, also an actor, while studying at Yale. They have had a scandal-free marriage since 1997 and live together with their twins in California.
In the early days of her career, Angela Bassett often played roles in biographies. But it was the portrait of Tina Turner in "Tina - What's Love Got to Do with It?" from 1993 that first brought her into the public eye.
Since 2018, she has gained attention for her great acting talent in the role of Queen Ramonda in films of the Marvel universe ("Black Panther", "Avengers: Endgame" & "Wakanda Forever").
At the end of the 1980s, she appeared in several films by African-American directors belonging to the New Black Cinema genre (including "Boyz n the Hood").
After several biopics, Angela Bassett took on continuous roles in series. "Alias" and "Emergency Room" are particularly noteworthy here. Since 2018, she has been part of the cast of the US series "9-1-1". Her fans can also hear her as a dubbing voice in several productions (including "Wendell & Wild", "Soul" and "Bumblebee").
